6TOURISM SECTOR PROPOSAL
Blue Work Experience Options for young people
currently completing their final year at
school. The work experience will be brokered
through existing contacts with school careers
counselors and Gateway Co-ordinators. It will be
graduated so that as a young person gains
experience they will be expected to put in longer
hours Industry expectations can grow as a young
person gains confidence within the
business. Business support will be offered to
ensure that young people are moving into a
supportive and youth friendly environment.
7TOURISM SECTOR PROPOSAL
Orange As the high season approaches and the
need for an increased labour supply occurs.
Business commitment grows. Fixed term employment
contracts are signed between work places and work
experience trainees for 10 to 12 weeks. Young
person has a sound understanding of the working
environment, their duties and has gained a sense
of belonging within an organisation already.
8TOURISM SECTOR PROPOSAL
Purple It is expected that some of the students
placed will be now trained up to industry
standard and offered permanent work. After which,
the ATTTO will be invited to continue their
training within a vocational environment.
9TOURISM SECTOR PROPOSAL
Green - With increased co-operation between our
local training providers. Flexible tertiary
education programmes will be offered to the young
people involved. Industry would be expected to
support trainees through their tertiary education
training by offering them paid part time work
where possible over the winter season.

11Maori Agricultural Cadetship will try
- A coordinated approach to training young Maori
for farm management roles on Maori Trust Farms. - ITO/Waiariki /Trust Farm Management teams.
- New Employment and training approaches will be
tested including a coordinated approach to a
seamless transition model - Previous Work Experience - a requirement
forCadetship - Improved Mentoring and Monitoring approaches
- Maori Trust Farms are involved recommending
mentors for cadets and are actively involved in
the monitoring of the pilot
