2Substitutes play a key role in maintaining
progress and moving education forward each day of
each school year
- Important Substitute Information
This activation process is like all other
employment processes. So, you can expect to
complete some paperwork and the orientation
process
To become an active substitute, a personnel file
will be created and must be kept current
The completion of the paperwork and the training
modules ensures that you will be paid for your
work
3All Substitutes (teachers, assistants,
secretaries, nurses and custodians) are required
to complete five (5) orientation modules and
provide the required employment forms before they
will be placed on the approved district

Former Lexington District 5 teachers and part
time district employees are required to complete
the same modules

5- Documents that must be provided by New Substitute
Current Tuberculin (TB) skin test. (not more than
a year old)
Drivers License
Original Social Security Card
Voided Check
College Transcripts/S.C. Teaching Certificate (if
certified)
6- At the beginning of each school year, all
substitutes will be required to attend a
mandatory orientation in order to be re-activated
in the SubFinder System - The SubFinder System is an automated calling
system that speaks to users with a human voice
and prompts them through easy-to-use menus. It
allows the users to respond to the menu options
by pressing numbers on the keypad of a touch tone
phone or via the internet -
7- SubFinder Advantages
- The SubFinder system will call you more often
then if done by an individual site - The system rotates through the substitution list
giving equal access to job opportunities - You can program the days of the week that you
will be available or unavailable to work - You can choose not to receive calls for the
remaining morning or evening calling period - You can program a Do Not Disturb or
Unavailable function into the system -
8- SubFinder Registration
- Call SubFinder at 1-866-616-4238
- SubFinder will identify itself and ask you to
enter your PIN (XX-YY-ZZZZ) followed by the key - (XXTwo digit day of birth)
- (YYTwo digit month)
- (ZZZZLast four digits of your Social
Security Number) - SubFinder will acknowledge that this is the first
time you have called and will ask you to speak
your name. When you have finished speaking your
name, press the key -

9- Calling Sessions
- The morning calling session is scheduled for
600am 1030am - The evening calling session is scheduled for
400pm 1000pm -
10- When SubFinder Calls You
- The SubFinder system will call you to offer you a
substitute job assignment - You may receive more than one call during a
specific calling session - When an employee reports an absence into
SubFinder, a job number is assigned to that
absence - When SubFinder calls a substitute for a job and
he/she accepts, the system will give you the job
number. (You will need to write this number down
for future reference). If you forget your job
number, you can call SubFinder or log on to the
Webconnect and review the current assignment. - If for some reason, two substitutes show up for
the same job, the one with the job number will be
given the job - You can only cancel a job with the job number.
If you must cancel, please do so ASAP.
11- Substitute Teacher Rates of Pay
- Certified 75.00 daily
- Nurses 70.00 daily
- Four (4) year 65.00 daily
- college degree
- No College 60.00 daily
- If you substitute in the same position for the
same person for more than 10 consecutive days,
the rate of pay changes to - Certified-daily rate of pay per certificate
- For all others, the rate changes to 70.00
daily
12- Substitute Support Positions Rates of Pay
- Rates are 7.00 per hour
- When substituting in the same position for the
same person for more than 10 days, the rate of
pay changes to the following - Salary Class 6 7 will change to 11.00 per hour
- Salary Class 8 9 will change to 12.98 per hour
- Salary Class 10 11 will change to 14.95 per
hour - (Please refer to page 4 of your
Substitute Handbook for Salary Class listings)
