  • You are an important member of the library staff.
  • 60-70 student staff help keep library open 95
    hours/week.

EMPLOYMENT
  • Employment is on a semester by semester basis.
  • J-term and summer hours may be available.
  • You are limited to part-time employment.
  • Work study hours are based on your semester
    allocation.

WAGE SCALE
  • The wage scale is based on semesters of
    employment.
  • ¾ of a semester or summer session one semester.

SCHEDULING
  • You set up your work schedule for the semester or
    summer session with your supervisor.
  • You are expected to work final exam week.

  • Work study student hours are based on funding
    allocation
  • Limited to lt20 hours/week
  • Regular students 8-10 hours/week
  • Campus recommends lt20 hours/week
  • 4 hour shift 15 minute paid break
  • Punch out for ½ hour scheduled lunch break

OVERTIME POLICY
  • Overtime is not allowed
  • If it occurs, your hours will be cut back
  • If it continues to occur, you may be terminated

ABSENCE REPORTING
  • You must call your supervisor before you are to
    report to work if you will be absent or tardy.
  • If you cannot reach your supervisor, call the
    Administrative Office at 785-8520.

TRAINING JOB DUTIES
  • Your supervisor will provide the necessary
    training.
  • Pay careful attention to what you are doing.
  • Accuracy is very important.
  • Inform your supervisor when you have completed
    your tasks.

TIME KEEPING
  • Use the computer in Circulation for clocking in
    and out.
  • Log on (enter username and password) and select
    your job and click on record time stamp and log
    off .
  • When shift ends, log on and click on record time
    stamp and log off, do not select your job when
    logging off.

TIME KEEPING
  • Please make sure your time card is correct.
  • You can view your time card by clicking on MY
    TIMECARD in the left hand column
  • If you see any purple or red on your timecard you
    made a mistake. Please write the mistake on the
    yellow correction slips and have your supervisor
    sign it. You will not be paid until the
    correction is made.

PAYROLL
  • Students are paid every 2 weeks.
  • Expect your first pay check approximately 4 weeks
    after you begin.
  • Direct deposit is the method of payment on
    campus.
  • Statements are sent to your university e-mail
    account.
  • W-2 forms are sent out in January to the address
    on your W-4 form.

  • Student workers are university employees.
  • Libraries are service organizations.
  • Assisting patrons is a priority.
  • Courtesy is essential.

WORK RULES
  • We expect you to be well groomed and neatly
    dressed.
  • Polite
  • Exhibit good work habits.
  • Be mindful of policies and procedures.
  • Enforce library rules or report offenses.

WORK RULES
  • Office supplies and equipment are to be used for
    library business only.
  • Excessive talking is not allowed.
  • Eating in the library is not allowed. Drink is
    allowed if in a non-spill container.
  • Headset use while on duty in public areas is not
    allowed.
  • If you work when the library is closed, you may
    use resources during your break period, but not
    those in view of the public.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
  • You are on probation your first semester.
  • At the end of your first semester and each
    spring, your supervisor will complete a
    performance evaluation and review it with you.
  • Evaluations may be used for employment references.

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION
  • Fifth semester student employees are eligible to
    receive a certificate and token gift of
    appreciation.

RECOGNITION FOR FIVE SEMESTER GRADUATES
  • Graduating student workers with at least 5
    semesters of employment are honored with a
    commemorative bookplate in their honor.

COMMUNICATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • You are responsible for reading information
    posted on the bulletin board in the time keeper
    area.
  • Direct work-related questions and concerns to
    your immediate supervisor.
  • We value your input and suggestions for
    improvement.

  • The electronic security system is located at the
    exit.
  • Lost and found and a first aid kit for minor
    injuries is located at the Circulation Desk.
  • Coat racks and lockers are located in the time
    keeping area.

  • Set off fire alarm, which automatically notifies
    Protective Services and the Fire Department.
  • Library staff go to exit nearest their department
    to open doors and direct patrons out. As staff
    exits, encourage patrons to quickly follow to
    nearest exits.
  • Persons with disabilities on second floor and
    basement go to Rescue Assistance Area that is the
    furthest away from the fire, as directed by maps
    posted near elevators by the main stairwell.
    Training fire personnel will evacuate them.
    Persons with disabilities should be encouraged to
    use the buddy system as defined by Disability
    Resource Services. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS.
