The area encompasses depression with the highest
level of flood risk in Poland, involving risk of
all types of floods.
6Zulawy a man-made land dating back to 700
years ago obtained by draining land, cutting
forests, planting special species of trees its
existence depends on the efficiency of the
drainage system and the flood protection devices.
7- Elblaskie Zulawy in the Warminsko-Mazurskie
Voivivodeship - 31 733 ha protected by floodbanks which are
machanically drained - 532 km of rivers and canals

- 3 517 km drainage ditches

- regulating structures i.e. permanent barriers in
river beds
