3, A Habit For Your Heart
3- Review
- OWNERSHIP is the Key to Stewardship
- 2. GRACE is the Key to Giving
- 3. GIVING is the Key to Receiving
4II. A Habit For The Heart And you shall love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind and with all
your strength. Mark 1230
5Do not store up for yourselves treasures on
earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal. But store up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not
break in or steal for where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also. Matthew
619-21 Â
6 No one can serve two masters for either he
will hate the one and love the other, or he will
be devoted to one and despise the other. You
cannot serve God and wealth. Matthew 624 Â
7 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of
evil, and some by longing for it have wandered
away from the faith and pierced themselves with
many griefs. 1 Timothy 610Â
8Instruct those who are rich in this present
world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on
the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly
supplies us with all things to enjoy. Â
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good
works, to be generous and ready to share,
storing up for themselves the treasure of a good
foundation for the future, so that they may take
hold of that which is life indeed. Â O Timothy,
guard what has been entrusted to you. 1
Timothy 617-20Â
9One important way to put Christ first in my life
is to put Christ first in my FINANCES. Honor
the Lord from your wealth, and from the first of
all your produce. Proverbs 39
10III. What is the first of all your produce?
In the Old Testament, the first of all your
produce was instructed by God to be a tithe,
which means TENTH. It is giving a percentage
of your INCOME to God.
11'A tithe of everything from the land, whether
grain from the soil or fruit from the trees,
belongs to the LORD it is holy to the LORD. The
entire tithe of the herd and flock every tenth
animal that passes under the shepherd's rod
will be holy to the LORD. He must not pick out
the good from the bad or make any substitution.
Leviticus 2730,32,33
12IV. Why did God ask for a tithe? For everything
that was written in the past was written to teach
us, so that through endurance and the
encouragement of the Scriptures we might have
hope. Romans 154
13IV. Why did God ask for a tithe? 1. So we would
remember to HONOR GOD. Honor the Lord from your
wealth, and from the first of all you produce.
Proverbs 39
14Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your
fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of
your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn
of your herds and flocks in the presence of the
LORD your God at the place He will choose as a
dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to
revere the LORD your God always. Then you and
your household shall eat there in the presence of
the LORD your God and rejoice. Deuteronomy
1422-24
15Why did God ask for a tithe? 2. You are helping
the advancement of GODS KINGDOM. And to the
sons of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe
in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their
service which they perform, the service of the
tent of meeting. Numbers 1821
16 a. The apostle Paul carries this over to the
CHURCH today. Who at any time serves as a
soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard
and does not eat the fruit of it? Or who tends a
flock and does not use the milk of the
flock? 1 Corinthians 9 Â
17Â I am not speaking these things according to
human judgment, am I? Or does not the Law also
say these things? For it is written in the Law of
Moses, "YOU SHALL NOT MUZZLE THE OX WHILE HE IS
THRESHING " God is not concerned about oxen, is
He?
18Â Or is He speaking altogether for our sake? Yes,
for our sake it was written, because the plowman
ought to plow in hope, and the thresher to thresh
in hope of sharing the crops. If we sowed
spiritual things in you, is it too much if we
reap material things from you? If others share
the right over you, do we not more? Nevertheless,
we did not use this right, but we endure all
things so that we will cause no hindrance to the
gospel of Christ.
19Do you not know that those who perform sacred
services eat the food of the temple, and those
who attend regularly to the altar have their
share from the altar? Â So also the Lord
directed those who proclaim the gospel to get
their living from the gospel. 1 Corinthians
97-14
20b. What Is The New Testament STANDARD for
Tithing? Now this I say, he who sows sparingly
will also reap sparingly, and he who sows
bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one
must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not
grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver. And God is able to make all
grace abound to you, so that always having all
sufficiency in everything, you may have an
abundance for every good deed. 2
Corinthians 96-8

- LAW GRACE
- Thou shall not kill 1. Whoever hates
his brother is a murderer - 2. Thou shall not 2. Whoever lusts commit
adultery commits adultery in his
heart.

GRACE 3. Thou shall not swear 3. Swear not at
all by My Name falsely 4. Bring the whole 4.
God is able to tithe (tenth) into make
all grace the storehouse
abound to you
23Â c. God also encourages giving BEYOND the
tithe. On the first day of every week each one
of you is to put aside and save, as he may
prosper, so that no collections be made when I
come. 1 Corinthians 162
24Why did God ask for a tithe? 3. You have an
opportunity to see Gods FAITHFUL provision.
Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me!
But you say, How have we robbed Thee? In
tithes and offerings. Bring the whole tithe
into the storehouse, so that there may be food in
My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord
of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows
of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until
it overflows. Malachi 38,10
25"Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that
it will not destroy the fruits of the ground nor
will your vine in the field cast its grapes,"
says the LORD of hosts."All the nations will call
you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,"
says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 311,12
26Why did God ask for a tithe? 4. God will provide
you with more to BLESS OTHERS with. Honor the
Lord from your wealth, and from the first of all
your produce. So your barns will be filled with
plenty, and your vats will overflow with new
wine. Proverbs 310
27And do not neglect the Levites living in your
towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance
of their own. At the end of every three years,
bring all the tithes of that year's produce and
store it in your towns, so that the Levites (who
have no allotment or inheritance of their own)
and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who
live in your towns may come and eat and be
satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may
bless you in all the work of your hands.
Deuteronomy 1422-29
28Why did God ask for a tithe? 5. You will have
greater confidence in other FINANCIAL
DECISIONS. In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs
36
