The main idea of this story is when Buds mom
died and Bud went off on the lamb and tried to
find his father.
  • He met his grandpa.
  • He made a deal with him to do chores around the
    house in order to stay there.
  • The band members gave him gave him a little
    trumpet.
  • He learned that Herman is not his father he is
    his grandfather.
  • The room that he was sleeping in is not a little
    dead girls room it was his mothers room.
  • It turns out that the rocks he has in his
    suitcase is the rocks that his grandfather gave
    his mother.

    true. If you stick your mind to it you will
    achieve your goal.

  • Bud went on the lamb to go and find his father
  • Bud found out that Herman is not his father he is
    his grandfather.
  • Bud told Lefty Lewis that Herman was his father.
  • The room that Bud is sleeping in is not just a
    little dead girls room it is his moms room.
  • Bud put a picture of his mother on top of his
    bed.

Setting
  • The setting is at Herman E. Calloways home.
    That is where all the commotion went on in the
    book. At Hermans house Bud learned a lot about
    his mother stuff that he didnt even know about
    her.

Character Description
  • Bud Caldwell, really skinny, has clothes that
    dont fit him, and looks poor. He is brave,
    smart, and he seems nice. He is the main
    character in the story. His grandfather is Herman
    E. Calloway, and his mom died when he was quite
    young.
  • Herman E. Calloway, looks mean, always has a
    rude face expression, and he also looks rich. He
    is rude, mean, and he can be nice at times. He is
    Buds grandfather and his daughter is Buds
    mother. He also has a band called The Dusky
    Devastators.
  • Bugs, he looks poor like Bud, he also has
    clothes that dont fit him. He is very brave, has
    courage, always happy, and is nice. His friend is
    Bud. He jumped on the train and Bud never saw him
    ever since.

    someone.

    too, Bud? Tall manual of the mallow family that
    is cultivated for its mucilaginous green pods
    used especially in soups or stews.
