4Plot
- Bud went to The Amoses, they were his foster
parents. He did not like them. - Bud went to a Hooverville. He met a girl.
- He met Lefty Lewis and his grandkids.
- He went to a restraunt with the band.
- He lives with Herman E. Calloway.
5Setting
The setting at the Sweet Pea is, it was someones
living room. They just sat about 10 card tables
in. Five or six people were at every table. It
smelled like a hundred gallons of hot apple cider
was in it. And lots of potatoes and meatloaf were
too.
6Bud is the main character in the book he has a
peanut head, and is African American. And his
legs look like chicken legs. He is brave.
Herman is Buds grand father. He is old has a
big belly, wrinkly face and is mean.
Characters
Miss. Thomas is pretty and wears nice jewels, she
is smart and is Hermans singer for the band.

Hooverville- The little girl had been in
Hooverville the longest so she got to tell us
what to do. Place to live, a place were people go
to live when they dont have a lot of money
Stricken -Theres no need to look so stricken,
its not bad news. Scared, sorrow
8The Great Depression
- Great depression happened because catastrophic
collapse of the stocks. - It started in the United states, and ended up
around the world. - People lost their jobs
- Some lost their home.
- In Europe, the Great depression strengthened
extremist forces and lowered the prestige of
liberal democracy.

- Herman is like a mad bee, about to sting
everybody. - Herman is a bee about to sting everybody.
