Title: The body Systems

1
The body Systems
  • Cardiovascular System
  • Digestive System
  • Nervous System
  • Skeletal System
  • Respiratory System

2
Cardiovascular System
  • The four chambers of the heart are the right
atrium, the left atrium, the right ventricle, and
    the left ventricle.
  • The Four valves of the heart are the pulmonary
valve, the tricuspid valve, the aortic valve, and
    the mitral valve.
  • The top number on a blood pressure reading is the
    systolic pressure
  • The bottom number on a blood pressure reading is
    the diastolic pressure.
  • It takes 20 seconds for the heart to pump blood
to every part of the body.
  • The movement of blood through the heart is called
    circulation.

3
The Digestive System
  • The different parts of the digestive system are
the mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, gall
    bladder, pancreases, large intestine, small
    intestine, rectum and the anus.
  • The primary function of the digestive system is
to break down and handle foods.
  • The adult digestive system is about 30 feet long.
  • A layer of mucus in the stomach keeps it from
    digesting its self.

4
Nervous System
  • The 3 main parts of the nervous system are the
brain, the spinal cord, and all your nerves.
  • Your Nervous system controls your walking,
    talking and breathing.
  • Your brain weighs about 3 pounds.
  • Nerve signals travel through your body at around
    200 miles per hour.

5
Skeletal System
  • Four types of fractures are complete fractures,
greenstick fractures, single fracture, and an
    open fracture.
  • The different kinds of joints are fixed joints,
parieotemporal joints, hinge joints, and ball and
    socket joints.
  • The skull protects the brain.
  • The ribs protect the heart, lungs and liver.
  • The longest bone in your body is the femur, and
    that is in your leg.
  • A baby has 300 bones that fuse together to get
the adult total of 206 bones.

6
Respiratory System
  • The parts of the respiratory system are the
lungs, the diaphragm, the bronchioles, the
capillaries, the main stem bronchi, the alveoli,
    and the trachea.
  • The diaphragm allows the lungs in inhale and
    exhale.
  • The trachea brings the air to the main stem
    bronchi.
  • The main stem bronchi gives the air to the
right lung and the left lung.
  • Just one of the bronchi is called bronchus.
  • The bronchioles are inside of your lungs and are
    like little hairs.
  • The alveoli are tinny air sacs
  • The blood vessels in your lungs are called
    capillaries.
  • You breath in oxygen.
  • You exhale carbon dioxide.
