1
BODY SYSTEMS CRASH COURSEDAY 1
2
FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS
  • Take the first two Cut Out Sheets (Cut Out Sheet
1 and Cut Out Sheet 2) and cut out the four
person boxes, leaving the labels attached to your
cut outs. Cut around the label boxes on Muscular
and Circulatory on Page 2 but leave the labels
    intact.
  • These will be taped down on the notes sheet that
    is separate.

3
FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS
  • Start with the Circulatory flap. Fold back the
little box behind the world Circulatory. Now
line the box up over the person on the center of
the page 4 with the flap on the left side of the
person. Your flap should cover the center person.
  • Take a piece of tape and tape the inside of the
little folded over flap onto the paper over the
center person. Your tape should cover the little
flap so it will stay in place.
  • Firmly crease over the fold so the this paper
sits nicely. You can double tape on the outside
over the word circulatory to keep it more secure.

4
FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS
  • Next you will be doing the same with the Muscular
system flap. Fold over just the little box under
    the word muscular.
  • Line it up on top of the flap you just taped down
but with the label on the right.
  • Take tape and tape the little box flap down TO
THE BIG SHEET (you may need to temporarily open
the other flap to do so). Tape the inside of the
box and cover in tape to make sure it stays down.
  • This flap should sit ON TOP of the Cirulatory
    flap.

5
FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Next take the Skeletal Flap. It is going to go
on top of both of the other flaps and be taped at
    the bottom of the boxes.
  2. Carefully fold back the little box and then tape
down ON THE BIG SHEET at the bottom of the person
    box.
  3. Now fold back in place so that it is ON TOP of
    the muscular and circulatory flaps.

6
FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Finally take the Integumentary System flap and it
will be taped on the top of the box.
  2. Carefully fold over the little flap and tape it
down ON THE BIG SHEET on top of the person box.
  3. Fold it over now so that it sits on top of all
    three other flaps.
  4. Double check that 4. Circulatory sits down first,
then 3. Muscular, then 2. Skeletal and finally 1.
    Integumentary

7
THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
  • On the person flap, DRAW the following structures

    your integumentary system FLAP.
  • THE FUNCTION OF THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
  • Barrier from infection and injury
  • Helps regulate body temperature
  • (sweating and goose bumps)
  • Protects organs from
  • UV rays sun damage

The Fitzpatrick Scale
11
THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
  • You do not need to write this down. It is
    attached to your notes already!
  • SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE INTEGUMENTARY
    SYSTEM
  • Your skin is your largest organ!
  • You will shed 40lbs of skin in your lifetime!

12
THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • From the pictures sheet, Cut Out Sheet 5 cut out
    PICTURE 2 (the skeleton)
  • Glue it over the person outline on the Skeletal
    system flap.
  • Label the bones that are labelled in the diagram
    to the right.

BRAINPOP SKELETON
13
THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • More pictures to admire but not draw

The skeletal system also includes your tendons
and ligaments
There are 5 different types of joints in your body
14
THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • You need to write this information on the BACK of
    your skeletal system FLAP.
  • MAIN ORGANS OF THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • BONES
  • CARTIALAGE

  • LIGAMENTS
  • (Connect bones to other bones)
  • TENDONS
  • (Connect Muscles to Bones)

15
THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • You need to write this information on the BACK of
    your skeletal system FLAP.
  • THE FUNCTION OF THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • Supports the body
  • Protects your internal organs
  • (Skull and Rib Cage)
  • Allows you to move
  • (Arms and Legs)
  • Stores calcium and other minerals
  • Blood cells are made inside
  • the bone, in the Bone Marrow

16
THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • You do not need to write this down. It is
    attached to your notes already!
  • SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
  • Your longest bone is your femur and it is ¼ of
your height. Your smallest bone is inside your
ear and the size of a grain of rice.

17
THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM
  • From the pictures sheet, cut out PICTURE 3 (the
    muscles)
  • Glue it over the person outline on the Muscular
    system flap.
  • Label the muscles that are labelled in the
    diagram to the right.

BRAINPOP MUSCLES
18
THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM
  • More pictures to admire but not draw

We can make different movements depending on
which muscles we contract and which we relax
There are three types of muscle in your body
19
THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM
  • You need to write this information on the BACK of
    your muscular system FLAP.
  • MAIN ORGANS OF THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM

  • It takes 20 muscles to smile but over 40 to
    frown!

22
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
  • Using a red and blue marker, draw the picture to
the right on your person outline. Draw a heart
and then red arteries and blue veins attached to
    it. Label all three.

  • The Heart
  • Blood
  • Arteries carry blood from the heart
  • Veins carry blood back to the heart
  • Capillaries are where veins and arteries meet

25
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
  • You need to write this information on the BACK of

  • SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE CIRCULATORY
    SYSTEM
  • It takes about 1 minute for one red blood cell to
    circulate through your entire body
  • Red blood cells live for about 4 months and make
250,000 trips through your body in that time.

27
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
  • Find picture 5 on your picture sheet of the
    LUNGS.
  • Cut it out and glue it onto the body model that
is ON THE BIG SHEET. (It is labelled respiratory
    system to the side)
  • Label the parts in the picture.
