5Project 1 WHITE Uplighting on Trees (This is
system is paid for and maintained by the
DDA) When people walk by the trees each tree
turns a color for 10 seconds, then fades back
into the standard WHITE uplighting look. This
was developed for baseline safety illumination
and to help activate the park area after dark.

10Project 2 Further Activating the Trees This
upgrade (sensors, programming) is paid by the
art program. Maintenance is provided by the
DDA. There will be 5 motion sensors around the
park (marked by a pink star on the plan). Their
5 locations will be identified by medallions on
the ground. When someone walks into that
medallion zone it will activate a
pre-programmed sequence of light patterns and
colors that run from 3-7 minutes. After the
sequence is finished, it will revert to the WHITE
look until it is activated again. Once a
sequence is activated, the system waits until the
sequence is complete until another sequence can
be triggered.

35Project 3 Green Laser Lawn (This project is
paid for and maintained by PAC funds.) A new
bench facing towards the fountain will be added
to the paving area around the fountain. Under
the bench in a secured box will be housed a green
diode laser system. The laser will be activated
when someone is sitting or passing in front of
the bench area. It will play pre-programmed
sequences that vary in length from 3-7 minutes
on the lawn area. These sequences can be played
independently of the tree lighting. Many safety
precautions are being developed and national
certifications are being acquired to make this a
safe and engaging project.

39The Laser Patterns depicted in the renderings are
only somewhat representative of some of the
kinetic patterns that will be projected on the
lawn. Dynamic and effective patterns need to be
created and tested for this project. Please
refer to preliminary pattern script for
additional descriptions of patterns for the LED
lights on the trees and the laser patterns on
the lawn.
