• The Battle of Fort Sumter took place on April
  12-14, in 1861. Fort Sumter is in South Carolina.
  It was a large fort American Fort.

• General Beauregard, a commander of the
  Confederacy, told the Union to surrender Fort
  Sumter because it was in the south. The Union
  said no.

• The Confederates fired on the fort. The fort was
  unable to fire back. They did not have
  ammunition. They could not get ammunition. They
  surrendered the fort the next day.

• During the Battle of the Fort Sumter no one died.
  This was the first battle of the war.
