    practices that are part of the structure of
    society and that have grown out of traditional,
    accepted behaviors

    minority group in the US
  • The legacy of prejudice and discrimination that
    grew out of slavery affects African Americans to
    this day
  • Practices and laws that segregated the races were
    institutionalized until the passing of civil
    rights legislation
