    in something that is fanciful, extravagant,
    colorful, or marvelous.

Characteristics of Romanticism
  • A revolt against Neoclassical order and reason.
  • Returns to nature and imagination.
  • Expresses freedom, emotion, sentimentality, and
    spontaneity.
  • Interest in the exotic, patriotic, primitive, and
    the supernatural.
