part of the Central Anatolian region of Turkey
it is the second largest province in Turkey.

• According to the written historical sources, the
  region of Sivas province was first inhabited
  during the period of the Hittite civilization by
  the beginning of 2000 BC and became an important
  settlement.

• The region then encountered the reign of
  Phrygian,
• Lydian,
• Assyrian,
• Roman,
• Byzantine,
• Seljukian, Danisment, Ilhanli, Eretna and Ottoman
  civilizations

• The foundations of the modern Turkish Republic
  were laid in the Sivas Congress assembled on 4
  September 1919, during the presidency of Mustafa
  Kemal Atatürk, thus making the province of Sivas
  important to the history of the Turkish nation

• The city lies at an elevation of 4,193 feet
  (1,285 m) in the broad valley of the Kizilirmak
  river.

has cement, bricks textile, rug factories.
and cotton and woolen textiles are all
important for the economy of the city . Iron
ore is mined nearby.

With countless tributaries and a length of 1355
kilometres the Kizilirmak is Turkeys longest
river. It rises on Mount Kizildag in the
northeast of the central Anatolian region and is
soon swelled by a series of streams close to
itself in size in its home province of Sivas

• Sivas is famous for its thermal springs which
  have a respectable percentage in the city's
  income.
• People believe that the water of these thermal
  springs can cure many illnesses.
• The most famous thermal areas are, Sicak Çermik
  which has a Physical Theraphy Unit of the
  University Hospital, Soguk Çermik and Kangal
  Balikli Kaplica

The Kangal Fish Spring has a miracle toothless
fish that live in 37 degrees of heat and are not
to be found anywhere in the world. These
wonderful fish never grow more than 10 cm.
Scientificially a 21 day cure is recommended for
positive result of the treatment. (The fish
nibble only dead skin, not live skin)

Divrigi Great Mosque is considered as the 8th
wonder of the world and it is famous for its
stone carving and its geniously mathematical

THE ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD DOG
The Kangal or, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, is
unique to Turkey and the countrys only
recognised dog breed. It is also one of the rare
dogs in the world whose genetic structure is not
mixed with the genes of any other breed.
