The Course Aims to

• give an insight and develops knowledge and
  understanding of different areas that relate to
  Physical Education.
• relate these areas to having a balanced, active
  and healthy lifestyle.

Unit G451 An Introduction to Physical Education

• Externally set and assessed.
• The question paper has three sections with one
  question in each section.
• 60 of the total AS GCE marks
• 2hr written paper
• 90 marks

• The skeletal and muscular systems
• Motion and Movement
• The CARDIOVASCULAR and RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS in
  relation to the performance of physical activity
  and sustained involvement in an active and
  healthy lifestyle

Section B Acquiring Movement Skills

• Classification of motor skills and abilities
• The use of different practice methods to ensure
  effective involvement in physical activity
• Information processing during the performance of
  skills in physical activity
• Motor control of skills and its impact on
  developing effectiveness in physical activity
• Learning skills in physical activity

Section C Socio-cultural Studies

• Physical activity
• Sport and culture sport and physical activity
  as a reflection of the culture in which it exists
  
• Contemporary sporting issues that have an impact
  upon young peoples aspirations and their regular
  participation in physical activity in the UK

AS Unit G452 Acquiring, Developing and
Evaluating Practical Skills in Physical Education

• Externally set, internally assessed and
  externally moderated.
• Candidates are assessed in two chosen activities
  from two different activity profiles and in a
  response to a live performance.
• 40 of the total AS GCE marks
• Practical Performance and oral response
• 80 marks
