• TSGBs New Satellite Communications System
• State-of-the-art C-Band Broadband Satellite
  System
• Live Internet connection throughout the Pacific
• Synchronization of email and network
  communications through satellite with downlink to
  Santa Paula, CA and Eik, Norway.
• Email with attachments are sent in real time
• 8 phone lines can be accessed from state rooms
• Limited web browsing for key personnel
• Upgraded TSGBs network (CO 121,000)
• Accomplished in four months start to finish

• VoIP pilot implementation for new Simulation
  Center providing new functionality and backup
  system for the PBX in the future.
• Awarded 1.3M CampusEAI grant to implement a
  campus portal
• Peoplesoft Human Capital Management (HCM 8.9)
  upgrade successfully completed on target.
• WebEx acquired to support training initiatives,
  offset time money for meetings, improve
  collaboration.

• If you lose your ID card
• Notify Help Desk to deactivate old one
• Go to Cashiers Office
• Then go to the Help Desk for new card

Windows Accounts

• To obtain a Windows Account
• Submit Computer and Email Usage Agreement Form
• Form available on IT website
• To authenticate and gain access to desktop and
  network resources, logon to a PC with
• Username (usually first initial last name)
• Password
• Domain (faculty staff use MARITIME)

Password Policy

• First time you logon
• You will be forced to change your password
• Strong passwords are enforced
• Minimum of eight (8) characters
• Must include a capital letter number
• Not your name or a word found in dictionary
• Dont compromise your password!
• Passwords must be changed every 90 days
• Password history is in effect

Protect Your Account

• Always logout at the end of your session or
• Lock your computer
• Press Windows key L
• To log back on, press, Ctrl Alt Del
• All applications will be still running
• CSU and Cal Maritime policies mandate that you
  never share your authentication credentials!

Network Folders (Z Drive)

• The Z Drive
• Network folder follows you from computer to
  computer
• Access is restricted to you
• Backed up by Data Center on routine basis
• Save only work-related files to the Z Drive
• Use it for academic purposes only
• Store personal files on your personally-owned
  computer, flash drive, CD, etc.
• Avoid saving important files on your local
  machine (i.e., desktop or hard drives)
• We strongly recommend encrypting information on
  Flash Drives
