25th/49th BATTALION ROYAL QUEENSLAND REGIMENT
(25/49 RQR)
2What is it?
The accelerated Training Model has been developed
to fast track the training process for Army
Reserve Infantry soldiers. It offers six months
employment and a tax free salary for successful
applicants. When enlisted under this model you
will be posted to 25/49 RQR and attend a number
of scheduled Army courses commencing January
through to June 2010. At the completion of this
training, you will be a qualified Infantry
soldier and eligible to participate in Army
training activities and overseas deployments.
3Who will be selected?
- Applicants will be selected from the Gold Coast
and surrounding regions with preference to those
who can serve with the Gold Coast based Army
Reserve Unit after they have completed training. - Applicants must meet all normal prerequisites for
entry into the Army Reserve and be available to
attend Army training courses during the period
Jan-Jun 2010 - A maximum of 60 personnel will be selected on a
first come basis
4Where is it conducted?
- Training will be co-ordinated by 25/49 RQR
located on the Gold Coast (Southport) -
- Training will be conducted in a variety of
locations including (Kapooka NSW Enoggera and St
Lucia QLD) - Between training courses, which are generally 2
weeks long, trainees will be granted leave to
return home

6Rifleman Royal Australian Infantry Corps (RAinf)
- Infantry is the primary combat arm of the
Australian Army. - The role of Infantry is to seek out and close
with the enemy, to kill or capture him, to seize
and hold ground, repel attack, by day or night,
regardless of season, weather or terrain. - To carry out this role the RAinf relies heavily
on skilled tactics, effective teamwork and
cooperation with other corps.

- First aid
- Navigation
- Basic Recruit Training
- Infantry Rifleman Course
- Reserve Response Force (RRF) Course
- Military Self Defence
- Various Weapons Training
- Military Specialist Training
8Why join the Army Reserve?

you undertake are accredited towards a civilian
qualification. You will develop personal
qualities such as teamwork, self-discipline,

Reserve income is tax free.
9Entry Requirements?
- Male at least 17 years of age
- Australian citizen
- Passes in year 9 English and Maths
- Be deemed medically fit by a Medical Officer
- Pass relevant aptitude testing/psych evaluation
- Be recommended by Defence Interviewer (job
interview) - Pass a Pre enlistment Fitness Assessment ie
- - Shuttle run/Beep test to a standard of 7.5
- - 45 Sit ups
- - 15 Push ups
