- There are 2 components to the UPMC Retirement
Program - Cash Balance Plan
- Savings Plan
9Cash Balance Plan
- Employer paid plan, when eligible, you
automatically participate - There are no forms to fill out
- Your eligibility begins Jan. 2 or July 1 after
your attain age 21 and complete 1,000 hours of
service - You are fully vested (own this money) after 3
years of service (1,000 paid hours each year)
10Savings Plan
- Must enroll to participate
- Employees can contribute on a pre-tax and/or
after-tax basis - Make contributions to the plan in one of two ways
- Percentage of pay (0-100) or a flat dollar
amount - Pre-tax contributions are subject to IRS limits
- For 2009, under age 50 can contribute 16,500 and
age 50 and over can contribute 22,000 - You are always 100 vested and own all of your
own contributions, even if you decide to leave

You contribute 6 of your pay 70 per
pay 1,800 annually
UPMC matches .50 for every 1, up to 6 35 per
pay 900 annually
The match adds money to your account! 2,700
annually
The UPMC match gives you a 50 return!

year - PTO Sell
- Sell up to 40 hours of PTO anytime during the
year - Balance of at least 80 hours of PTO remaining in
