An earthquake is a plate under the ground. When
two plates shift it makes the area shake. When an
earthquake occurs you need to drop to the ground.
Get under something and hold on very tight. When
an earthquake starts stay away from shelves with
fragile objects! The sharp objects can kill you.

Why Is it Considered a Natural Disaster
Earthquakes are considered a natural disaster,
because it can take many peoples lives. It can
also rip houses down in a second. More than
millions of dollars of damage can be done. An
earthquake can kill many people.

Where Do They Occur
Earthquakes occur in Alaska, California, Mexico,
parts of South America, China, Japan, New
Zealand, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and other parts
Asia. No where in the world are people are safe
from earthquakes!! They tear down streets,
roads, and bridges. Many places have been hit by
earthquakes. So you can't stand in one area and
not be safe.

How Can People Stay Safe?
People can stay safe from earthquakes by staying
away from falling objects. Also stay away from
falling house or buildings. You could get injured
or even die. But the most important thing to do
is stay calm. It might seem scary but I bet you
will be fine.

in Japan where the earthquake created a
tsunami. Tsunami are created under water.
First, the oceans creast get's really rough.
