What is Respiration?

• Making ATP (energy) by breaking down food
• - 2 types
• Aerobic respiration requires Oxygen
• (Most complex organisms do this type)
• Anaerobic respiration or fermentation Does not
  require Oxygen

• - animals from eating
• - heterotrophs organisms that eat their food

Anaerobic Respiration or Fermentation

• Lactic acid fermentation
• where your muscles produce a chemical called
  lactic acid and your muscles begin to have a
  burning sensation and fatigue because they are
  not getting enough oxygen
