• Indicates the relative standing of a student in

  norm (reference) group who took the test at a
  comparable time
• Useful for evaluating student performance on a
  particular test or subtest

KEY THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Avoid using NRT as the only diagnostic for
  individuals
• Do not interpret scores in isolation
• Avoid forming fatalistic expectations from low
  scores or unrealistically high expectations from
  high scores
• Avoid the tendency to interpret small differences
  in student scores as being indicative of
  SIGNIFICANT differences
• One set of scores is not better than another
