why a network

• was established is March 2004
• brings together 10 European regions from 10
  Member Countries and the differences in
  institutional frames and competences in
  legislation of the regions represent a added
  value for the Network
• emerged from the need to discuss the relevance of
  involving European regions in the delivery of the
  Lisbon strategy and the specific role that
  regional authorities play in obtaining Lisbons
  targets
• functions as a technical room to discuss relevant
  subjects in concrete ways, in order to give input
  to wider debates at several governance levels

  Lisbon strategy
