frightened women flee the destruction of the
World Trade Center. The scene in lower Manhattan
was one of chaos as people ran screaming from the
toppling structures.

crater left by the crash of United Airlines
Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa., on Sept. 12, one
day after the crash. Recovery of the cockpit
voice recorder could be key in determining what
happened. More than 200 investigators were on the
scene.
