  • A BTEC is a vocational qualification
  • A regular occupation, especially one for which
    a person is particularly suited or qualified.
  • It is geared towards you having a good idea of
    what you want to do in the future.
  • Starting a career straight from college
  • Getting into a university

The BTEC National Diploma
  • Typically BTEC qualifications all involve
  • Studying 1080 hours of unit content over two
    years.
  • All courses are full time (with study periods)
  • Each unit has a Guided Learning Hours (GLH)
    value typically this is 60 GLHs.
  • The GLH for the unit influences the amount of
    points that can be achieved.
  • You need a minimum of 108 points for a PPP.

What is a BTEC National Diploma worth?
  • A BTEC National Diploma is worth the equivalent
    of 3 A-levels or an IB Diploma.
  • In each unit you can achieve either a Pass,
    Merit or Distinction.
  • The minimum requirement for each unit is to
    achieve a Pass.
  • The maximum qualification is a DDD.
  • The minimum qualification is a PPP.
  • A PPP is equivalent to 3 A-Levels at an E
    grade.
  • A DDD is equivalent to 3 A-Levels at an A
