Identifying Hardware and Software Requirements

• MetaFrame Presentation Server can be installed on
  the
• servers running the following operating systems
• Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server
• Windows 2000 Datacenter
• Windows Server 2003, Standard, Enterprise and
  Datacenter Editions
• In addition to the operating system, the server
  must
• have the following installed
• Microsoft .Net Framework, Version 1.1 or later
• Java Runtime (JRE) Version 1.4.1_02 or later
• Visual J .Net Version 1.1 or later

Choosing a Data Store Database

• The data store database
• Is a repository that contains and tracks static
  information
• Can be on the following
• Microsoft Access
• Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE)
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Oracle
• IBM DB2

Data Store Access Modes

• The data store database can be accessed using
• Indirect access, in which one server accesses the
  data store on behalf of the other servers in the
  server farm
• Direct access, in which each server has a direct
  connection to the data store database

Installing MetaFrame Presentation Server

• During the installation of MetaFrame Presentation
  Server, a
• MetaFrame Administrator
• Identifies components that are installed on
  MetaFrame Presentation Server
• Enables or disables Pass-through authentication
• Creates a new server farm or joins an existing
  server farm
• Chooses the database software that is used for
  the data store database
• Creates a new zone or joins an existing zone
• Specifies the license server that is used for the
  server farm
• Enables or disables shadowing
• Specifies the port on which the Citrix XML
  service will run
