Title: Christ Is Our Passover

1
Christ Is Our Passover
  • Theme Christians observe Christs sacrificial
    death each week.

2
Introduction
  • Much of the world focuses on the celebration of
    Easter.
  • The observance of Christs resurrection during
this time of year is a wonderful thing for the
    world.
  • People are thinking about our Savior who died for
    the world.
  • People can reflect about the status of their
    souls.
  • What is not wonderful is when man made holidays
    supersede neglected God ordained truths.

3
Introduction
  • Easter is one of those man-made holidays.
  • Great honor is rightfully given to our
    resurrected Lord.
  • Yet, the scriptures often go unheeded regarding
the worship of our God in remembering our
resurrected Lord each Sunday, and just as
importantly, each day we live our lives for Him.

4
The Passover Lamb of the OT
  • The Preparation.
  • Lamb was prepared for each (lit. the) household.
    Ex. 123
  • The sacrificial lamb must be perfect (innocent).
    Ex. 125

5
The Passover Lamb of the OT
  • Partaking of the Sacrifice. Ex. 128
  • The sacrificial blood of the lamb would be shed
as atonement on behalf of those who would receive
Gods mercy. Cp. Lev. 435 (sin offering)
  • Then, those together would eat the Passover meal
as a memorial of the sacrificial lamb and Gods
    mercy. Ex. 1214

6
The Passover Lamb of the OT
  • The Reason.
  • God was bringing judgment pon those whose hearts
were hardened against Him. Ex. 1212
  • Simultaneously, He was bringing safety to those
who heeded His will. Ex. 1213
  • In other words, God would give safety to those
who belong to Him while smiting those who were
    against Him. cp. Isa. 315
  • The effect This was a new beginning for Israel.
    Ex. 122

7
The Passover Lamb of the NT Jesus Christ
  • His Preparation.
  • Lamb prepared to be the sacrifice for the world.
    Jn. 129
  • He was perfect as a lamb unblemished and
    spotless. 1 Pet. 119

8
The Passover Lamb of the NT Jesus Christ
  • His Sacrifice and our partaking of the Lamb of
    God.
  • His sacrifice is intended to be the atonement for
    all the world. Jn. 316
  • Yet, His resurrection affects only those who call
on His nameto those who are the children of God.
    Jn. 317-18 (Jn. 524 Mk. 1616 Rom. 63-4)

9
The Passover Lamb of the NT Jesus Christ
  • His Reason.
  • God is bringing salvation and judgment in these
last days. Heb. 1 (v. 2) (see also Joel
    228-32 Acts 217ff, 21)
  • God uses Christ the sacrificial Lamb of God
as the means to pass over the sins of the
    saved.
  • Thus, to those who are saved, Christ is our
    Passover (Lamb). 1 Cor. 57

10
Application Keep the Feast With Sincerity and
Truth
  • Our worship of Him. Jn. 423-24 1 Cor. 1117-34
  • Just as God expected faithful worship of Him in
the Old Testament (Ex. 12) so does he while we
live in the New Testament days.
  • We worship the Lord with a sincere heart.
  • We worship the Lord according to His revealed
    truths.

11
Application Keep the Feast With Sincerity and
Truth
  • Our service to Him. Rom. 121-2
  • We serve the Lord by being transformed by the
renewing of our minds. Cp. 2 Jn. 9
  • Thus, we prove what is that good and acceptable
    will of God.

12
Conclusion
  • The Old Testament Lamb was partaken by Gods
children who would faithfully observe His will in
    worship and service to Him.
  • May we strive to remember Christ, our Passover
and likewise follow Gods will in spirit and
    truth in these last days.
