Scope

• Assist in development of methods for UN missions
  regarding
• Force Health Protection
• Environmental Protection
• Information distribution (GIS)

Project Goals

• Assist in implementation of UN Environmental
  Guidelines
• Develop methodology for Environmental Impact
  Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Plans
• Conduct a Health Threat Assessment for UNMIS
  (Sudan) and review existing UNDPKO methodology
  for health surveillance (medical reporting),
  health threat assessments and disease trends
  analysis and dissemination of medical information
  in UN missions
• Explore the role of GIS model(s) for
  environmental and medical monitoring and
  dissemination, with the objective of developing a
  generic template for UN missions
• Assist in development of UN Environmental
  Monitoring Teams (EMT)

• Implement UN Environmental Guidelines
• Workshop at the UN Training Facility in Brindisi,
  Italy, May 2006
• Develop methodology for Environmental Impact
  Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Plans
• Evaluate the need for an UN Environmental
  Monitoring Team (EMT) and suggest suitable
  equipment
• Set up a web page for environmental issues on the
  UN intranet
