Shift Registers

  • Data can be entered in serial or parallel.
  • Data can be shifted out in serial or parallel.

  • Clock pulse to shift data bit by bit.

  • Output of one flipflop connected to the input of
    the next flipflop.
  • Final output bits from the last flipflop.
  • Bit by bit loading and shifting with every clock
    pulse.
