Title: Why are you stressed

1
Why are you stressed?
2
  • It is helpful for us to understand the workings
of our bodies and why we take multivitamins. Our
bodies respond to stressors by activating the
    nervous system and specific hormones.

3
  • The hypothalamus signals the adrenal glands to
produce more adrenaline and cortisol and release
them into the bloodstream. Often called the
'fight or flight' response, these hormones speed
up heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure and
    metabolism.

4
  • Blood vessels open wider to allow greater blood
flow to large muscle groups, pupils dilate to
improve vision, the liver releases stored glucose
to increase energy levels, and sweat is produced
    to cool the body.

What causes stress?
  • When this system works well, all these physical
changes prepare us to react quickly and
effectively to handle the situation, but when it
overreacts or fails to turn off, the body can
    experience negative symptoms of stress.

7
  • For example, there might be anxiety or panic
    attacks, irritability and moodiness physical
symptoms such as stomach problems, headaches or
even chest pain allergic reactions such as
eczema or asthma, or problems sleeping.

8
What is the solution?
  • Recognising the problem is half the battle.
Without knowing what stress is and how it may put
a strain on your health, you will not be able to
recognise it. Awareness is key if you are to
    learn to manage stress effectively.

9
Yoga
  • Several researchers claim excellent results from
yoga in alleviating stress and its effects. Yoga
also improves the functioning of the respiratory,
    circulatory, digestive and hormonal systems.
There is absolutely no doubt the that the mind
body link apparent in Yoga has a direct effect on
how you react both emotionally and
    physiologically to stress.

Acupuncture
  • According to World Health Organisation data a
large number of neurological and musculoskeletal
disorders induced by stress are being
    successfully treated by acupuncture.

  • Stress is a broad brush term we use to describe
when we are feeling under pressure emotionally.
Stress isn't an emotion itself though, instead it
usually describes a state in which we are not
dealing with a particular emotion we are feeling.

  • Step one to beating stress is to understand
exactly why you are feeling it. When you dig a
little deeper you usually find that your am
anxious when you feel stressed.Taking care of the
reasons why you are anxious helps to alleviate
    the pressure of feeling stressed.

14
  • Steps to Feeling your stress is less make sure
your routine includes a little time for you even
if that just means sitting in a quiet room
undisturbed for a few minutes each day. Ignoring
    ourselves only compounds stress.

15

system flowing and healthy. Try not to avoid what
you are trying to avoid...standing up to bossy
relative, starting a healthy eating plan or
making a much needed life change.
