Economic Ties
  • The ninth session of the Pakistan-Saudi Joint
    Ministerial Commission held in Islamabad ended on
    a call to further enhance bilateral economic
    ties.
  • Both the countries are wishing to enhance
    bilateral economic ties in various sectors
    including banking, agriculture, investment,
    education, infrastructure development, energy and
    health.

Economic Ties
  • The close geographical proximity, historic trade
    ties, religious affinity and the complementary
    nature of economic needs have created a strong
    bondage of trust between the two countries.
  • In addition, there is a convergence of views and
    interests of the two countries on most of the
    regional and international issues.
  • Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent
    relations.

Investment
  • A Saudi investment company Al-Baaj is willing
    to invest up to 1 billion in energy, automobile,
    hotel and construction industries in the next
    five years.
  • Saudi Arabia is in favour of Free Trade Agreement
    (FTA) with Pakistan
  • There are more than 350 Pakistani investors in
    the Kingdom who have obtained licenses from Saudi
    Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) and
    have established companies in various fields of
    construction and services.

Al Baaj, a Saudi investment company will start a
joint venture in Pakistan with a cement industry
called Dandore The current capacity of Dandore
is 350 tons a day which will be enhanced up to
7500 tons a day as a result of the joint venture

Energy plants and Solar panels
Al- Baaj group was aware of the energy crisis in
the Pakistan and was interested in constructing
power plants having production capacity of 150MW
to 200MW and also in the production of solar
panels, installation and back-up services to the
consumer

Construction
The Al-Baaj construction company of Saudi Arabia
also submitted a proposal to the BOI (Board of
Investment) for the construction of low-cost
housing schemes in Pakistan

Textile and Pharmaceutical Companies
Both countries are initiating contacts between
textile and pharmaceutical companies operating in
the two countries.
Insurance Companies
New collaboration in insurance and financial
sectors is proposed.

Infrastructure
Saudi Arabia is assisting Pakistan with 131
million for Neelam-Jhelum Hydropower Project
(NJHP) with contribution of Saudi Fund for
Development.
