The Vocational ProgressionRoutes Programme
  • Supporting young people who are opting for the
    vocational route to HE (Apprentices)

Raising Aspirations
  • Government aims for 50 of 18/30 year olds to
    enter HE by 2010
  • Currently less than 5 of Apprentices make the
    transition from Apprenticeship to Higher
    Education
  • The Vocational Progression Routes Programme want
    to increase this percentage

How we haveraised Aspirations
  • We have produced resources for vocational
    learners in order to ease their transition from
    Level 3 to level 4.

How we haveraised Aspirations
  • We have worked with training providers making
    their Apprentices aware of progression routes
    available to them.
  • We have worked with Colleges funding them to
    support and encourage progression.
  • In 05/06 we worked with over 450 young people
  • In 06/07 we have worked with 350 to date
  • We also have funding to continue in 07/08

  • Currently working with all the colleges discussed
    previously on new work packages.
  • Launching the Toolkit.
  • Hope to secure a bid (Aimhigher Funded) to work
    with the GMLPF and Training Providers across
    Merseyside.
  • To produce a DVD aimed at Apprentices who have
    Aimed Higher and succeeded will be used in
    conjunction with a new updated toolkit.
