Apiculture in Turkey In Turkey, 180,000 family
deals with apiculture with approximately
4,250,000 scientific hives. About 75 of the
beekeepers are traveling beekeepers. Each year
they stay in 5-7 different regions on average.
Our annual honey production is approximately
65,000 tons. Turkey is the 2nd in the world in
terms of number of hives and 4th in terms of
honey production. There are approximately 11,000
species of plants in Turkey. Approximately 3,000
of these plants are endemic and they are unique
to our country. Turkey is suitable for honey
production in terms of its climate and
geographical structure. Particularly the Eastern
Sections of Turkey are of the character that is
profoundly suitable for organic honey production.

TURKEY has been called The Cradle of
Civilization" and one can discover what this
literally means only by traveling in this land of
history. The worlds first town, a neolithic city
at Çatalhöyük, dates back to 6500 BC. From the
days of Çatalhöyük up to the present time Turkey
boasts of a rich culture that through the
centuries has left a lasting foot-print on modern
civilization. Being the heir of many centuries
of culture makes Turkey a paradise of knowledge
and cultural heritage. Hattis, Hittites,
Phrygians, Urartians, Lycians, Ionians, Persians,
Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and
Ottomans have all occupied crucial places in the
historical background of Turkey and ancient sites
and ruins scattered throughout the country give
proof to each civilizations unique distinction.

Istanbul is a city of natural gateway, offering
a friendly welcome and genuine hospitality. It is
a metropolis proud of its rich history and
unrivalled natural beauty spread on two
continents, Europe and Asia, divided by the
Straights of Bosphorus. The city has been the
imperial capital for Roman, Byzantium and Ottoman
Empires. It is attractive both for the beauty of
the surrounding landscape and for its historical
treasures. Beneath the unchanging skyline of
Istanbuls domes and minarets you find the
continual bustle and movement of the crowds, the
rumbling of vehicles along the ancient cobbled
streets mingling with the horns of ships in busy
ports, all revealing the vitality of this
magnificent city.
