Overview

• Tasked with promoting the beautification of
  common areas within the City of Parker
• Submitting Parker for the Governors Community
  Achievement Award for 2005 (a 65,000 award for
  landscaping)
• Joining the Dont Mess with Texas Trash-off
• Supporting recycling efforts
• Informing the Public of our efforts
• Recruiting volunteers and donations to fund our
  efforts

Past Successes

• Parker has the highest rate of recycling in Texas
• The Bill Wade Annual Parker Cleanup
• Focusing the City on remediation of abandoned or
  neglected properties
• Lobbied Council for purchase of the Maxwell Creek
  Preserve
• Used of condemned buildings for Fire Department
  Training

Works in Progress

• Wildflower planting and native grass reseeding in
  the Maxwell Creek Nature Preserve
• Parker Womens Club New Parker Road landscaping
  project
• Continued enforcement of City nuisance ordinances
  to get neglected properties cleaned up
• Volunteer efforts to help disabled property
  owners keep their properties clean

KTB Programs

• The Annual Bill Wade Memorial Parker
  Beautification Weekend is Parkers entry in the
  Great American Cleanup (GAC)
• Keep America Beautifuls Great American Cleanup
  (GAC) is the nations largest community
  improvement effort, held March through May each
  year.
• The Dont Mess with Texas Trash-Off is Texas
  signature event of the GAC. Volunteers throughout
  the state remove litter from roadsides, city
  parks, neighborhoods, and waterways during this
  annual event organized by the Texas Department of
  Transportation (TxDOT) and KTB.
• The Lake and River Cleanup Program, a partnership
  between Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas
  Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), aims
  to improve and maintain the quality of surface
  water through litter cleanups and education.
• Texas Recycles Day is a statewide public
  awareness campaign to increase awareness about
  the environmental and economic benefits of
  recycling.
• Illegal Dumping Education and Enforcement
  intiatives include seminars and conferences, an
  illegal dumping enforcement toolkit, and forming
  a statewide task force to share information,
  discuss the issue and develop solutions.
