Target Audience
  • ADULT EDUCATION The term adult education
    means services or instruction below the
    postsecondary level for individuals who have
    attained 16 years of age
  • who are not enrolled or required to be enrolled
    in secondary school under State law and who
  • lack sufficient mastery of basic educational
    skills to enable the individuals to function
    effectively in society
  • do not have a secondary school diploma or its
    recognized equivalent, and have not achieved an
    equivalent level of education or
  • are unable to speak, read, or write the English

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
  • The ABE program provides basic literacy and life
    skills in the areas of reading, writing, and
    mathematics, and prepares students to enroll in
    the GED program.
  • Tuition is FREE - 10 activity fee, 5 testing
    fee

General Educational Development (GED)
  • The GED program prepares students to pass the GED
    test in order to be awarded a State of Florida
    High School Diploma and achieve academic and
    personal success.
  • The programs five areas of academic instruction
    include mathematic, reading, science, social
    studies and writing
  • Tuition is FREE - 10 activity fee, 5 testing

Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages
(Adult ESOL)
  • The adult ESOL program provides English literacy
    instruction for adults who are non-native
    speakers of English.
  • The program is designed to develop all components
    of language including speaking, listening
    comprehension, reading, writing, grammar and
    pronunciation.
  • Tuition is FREE - 10 activity fee, 5 testing fee

Intensive Reading
  • The Intensive Reading program provides small
    group reading instruction for adults who cannot
    read or substitute sounds or words when reading
    making it difficult or impossible to understand
    written materials.

Adult High School (AHS)
  • The AHS program provides an opportunity for
    students who have either had an interruption in
    their education, an unusual scheduling need, or a
    deficit in their credits to continue toward the
    goal of achieving a standard high school diploma.
  • An adult high school student receiving a diploma
    in this program will meet the same graduation
    requirements mandated for secondary students.

    GED, and ESOL programs through the districts
    internet-based, interactive courses

Literacy Education for Households (LEH)
  • The LEH program provides an opportunity for
    parents to improve their academic and parenting
    skills while actively participating in their
    childrens education.
  • The program includes adult education (ABE, ESOL
    and GED), parent-child activities, and
    age-appropriate child education.

Ernest Wooler Scholarship
  • High School Seniors
  • Financial Need
  • Pass FCAT
  • Priority given to residents that reside within
    the area of State Road 7, McNab Road and the
    Atlantic Ocean (Ely High School)
  • Provides scholarship recipients the opportunity
    to pursue a technical career that requires less
    than a four year baccalaureate degree.
  • Maximum Award Awards the financial resources to
    enter and complete a technical program of study
    up to a maximum of two years.
  • Includes Tuition, required books,
    materials/supplies, tools, and uniforms
  • Minimum Award Awards the recipient a
    scholarship of 2,500
