The Two Sons

• GAL 421 Tell me, you who want to be under law,
  do you not listen to the law?
• GAL 422 For it is written that Abraham had two
  sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free
  woman.
• GAL 423 But the son by the bondwoman was born
  according to the flesh, and the son by the free
  woman through the promise.

The Two Covenants

• GAL 424 This is allegorically speaking, for
  these women are two covenants one proceeding
  from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be
  slaves she is Hagar.
• GAL 425 Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia
  and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she
  is in slavery with her children.

The Jerusalem Below

• MAT 2337 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the
  prophets and stones those who are sent to her!
  How often I wanted to gather your children
  together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under
  her wings, and you were unwilling.

  you desolate!
• MAT 2339 "For I say to you, from now on you
  shall not see Me until you say, 'Blessed is He
  who comes in the name of the Lord!'"

The Jerusalem Above

• GAL 426 But the Jerusalem above is free she is
  our mother.
• GAL 427 For it is written, "Rejoice, barren
  woman who does not bear Break forth and shout,
  you who are not in labor For more numerous are
  the children of the desolate Than of the one who
  has a husband."
• GAL 428 And you brethren, like Isaac, are
  children of promise.

The City of the Living God

• HEB 1222 But you have come to Mount Zion and to
  the city of the living God, the heavenly
  Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,
• HEB 1223 to the general assembly and church of
  the first-born who are enrolled in heaven, and to
  God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of
  righteous men made perfect,
• HEB 1224 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new
  covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which
  speaks better than the blood of Abel.

The Historical Truth

• GAL 429 But as at that time he who was born
  according to the flesh persecuted him who was
  born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.

The Inheritance

• GAL 430 But what does the Scripture say? "Cast
  out the bondwoman and her son, For the son of the
  bondwoman shall not be an heir with the son of
  the free woman."
• GAL 431 So then, brethren, we are not children
  of a bondwoman, but of the free woman.

Application 1

• Trusting in the works of the Mosaic Law for
  salvation indicates you are not a citizen of the
  Jerusalem above.
• But their minds were hardened for until this
  very day at the reading of the old covenant the
  same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed
  in Christ But to this day whenever Moses is read,
  a veil lies over their heart but whenever a
  person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit
  of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians
  314-17)

Application Point 2

• Inhabitants of the Jerusalem above, the Kingdom
  of God, will be persecuted.
• JOHN 1520 "Remember the word that I said to you,
  'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they
  persecuted Me, they will also persecute you if
  they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

The Day of Glory

• And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming
  down out of heaven from God, made ready as a
  bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud
  voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the
  tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall
  dwell among them, and they shall be His people,
  and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall
  wipe away every tear from their eyes and there
  shall no longer be any death there shall no
  longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain the
  first things have passed away.(Revelation 211-4)
