Fairbanks the Golden Heart City
  • Fairbanks is the second largest city in Alaska.
    There are only 35,000 in the city, but about
    75,000 live in the borough.
  • On the longest day of the year, the sun never
    really sets. It just gets dusky at about from
    midnight until around 200 am.
  • On the shortest day of the year, you can see the
    sun rise over the mountains and then watch it set
    a few hours late.

  • The Alyeska Pipeline runs along the outskirts of
    Fairbanks. This is a famous tourist attraction
    and a major source of income for the State of
    Alaska.

  • Plan ahead so that you dont have to take too
    many trips into town.

Animals Around the Interior
  • Many animals are seen around the interior of
    Alaska. The most commonly seen is the moose.
    Others include caribou, ptarmigan, grouse, red
    fox, and an occasion bear. In late summer and
    early fall, salmon are found in abundance in the
    rivers.
  • Dall sheep can be seen in the mountains through
    Denali National Park which is located 120 south
    of Fairbanks.
