AIBA President, Dr. Wu, tasked the AIBA Technical
and Rules Commission with amending the AIBA
Technical and Competition Rules The following
changes have been approved by the AIBA Executive
Committee for implementation, some in 2008, most
as of January 1, 2009 Men and women boxers
between the age of 19 and 34 are categorized as
Elite boxers For the Olympic Games, the boxers
age starts from 17 Boy and Girl boxers between
the age of 17 and 18 are categorized as Youth
boxers Boy and Girl boxers between the age of 15
and 16 are categorized as Junior boxers

USA Boxing Internship Program Description
  • Provide a USA Boxing LBC intern upon Local Boxing
    Committee request
  • Interns may perform work for LBCs in the areas of
    administration, finance, events or marketing
  • Each internship will be for a specified length of
    time with a set number of hours to be worked by
    the intern
  • USA Boxing will provide funding for internship
    program costs

Services
  • USA Boxing will set up internship programs with
    Colleges and Universities across the United
    States
  • We will receive applications from LBCs wishing to
    employ interns and fill intern slots for the
    applying LBC
  • USAB will maintain oversight of the internship
    program with mid-term and final progress reports
    from both the LBC and the employed intern.

Responsibilities
  • Each LBC desiring to employ an intern needs to
    complete the application process with USA Boxing
  • Upon confirmation of an intern, the LBC will
    assign a supervisor who will provide training and
    guidance to the intern
  • The LBC supervisor will be responsible to ensure
    that the intern completes work as assigned
  • The LBC supervisor shall document hours worked by
    the intern and report to USA Boxing for
    bi-monthly payroll processing
  • The LBC supervisor shall prepare mid-term and
    final progress reports on the intern

USA Boxing Internship Program Timing and Next
Steps
  • Intend to have a test program with a few LBCs in
    place by January, 2009
  • Application process for other qualifying LBCs
    could begin as early as August of 2009
  • Dates of internship anticipated to be mid-January
    to mid-May of each year
  • Interns selected for the program will receive
    their assignment 6 8 weeks prior to start date
    of mid-January

Updated By-Laws Grievance Procedures
  • A grievance must be filed within 30 days of
    occurrence of alleged violation or denial
  • Individual filing fee 300
  • Organization filing fee 500
  • Proof of indigence may be required by Judicial
    Committee before proceeding with complaint

  • Appeals may be submitted within 30 days of the
    decision (along with the 200 filing fee) to the
    CEO of USA Boxing
  • It is the responsibility of the parties involved
    to keep current address information on file with
    USA Boxing. Documents sent via U.S. Mail shall
    be considered actual notice
