• Today I will give you a brief introduction to the
  library, our services, our materials, and our
  people.
• In other library orientations and especially if
  you have one in English Composition II you will
  be shown how to use the Librarys catalog and
  databases.

Where in the library are the books?

I cant find the book I want!

• There are two ways to classify books in a
  library
• The Dewey Decimal System (public libraries,
  school libraries, some academic libraries)
• 808 C33 College Composition
• The Library of Congress Classification
  System/Scheme (large public libraries, academic
  libraries, special libraries)
• PN481 .W656 1982 Women in Print

• The Proctor Library has some Dewey books left,
  but we are in the process of turning them into
  Library of Congress books. Only about 10 of the
  collection is still Dewey.
• Since most of our books are Library of Congress
  Class. Scheme, does anyone know the history of
  this cataloging/shelving system?
