Some key questions
For whom is it a problem?
For whom is it perceived to be a problem?
Who, in the organisation, benefits?
Who is it assumed will benefit?
Who has to do the work?
4
Improving own practice is about
  • ownership of the problem and the solution
  • relevance to own circumstances and future

shared with the needs of the organisation
5
Challenge for the organisation is to provide
opportunity, support and recognition for those
who want to do what they do... ...even better
Personal engagement and organisational culture

...getting more out of my team. We are all under
a lot of pressure to meet targets. I am very busy
doing other things so I want my team to be able
to take more responsibility for their own work. I
have my own appraisal coming up soon and it
sharpens the mind. I would like to introduce a
performance appraisal system for them as well.

I am concerned that the team will not be as
effective if I am not there to give them a strong
lead. Can they be relied upon to take
responsibility and how will I be certain they
have done what they say they have done?
