Full Teaching Role
  • full teaching role means a teaching role that
carries the full range of teaching
responsibilities (whether on a full time, part
time, fractional, fixed term, temporary or agency
basis) and requires the teacher to demonstrate an
extensive range of knowledge, understanding and
    application of curriculum development, curriculum
    innovation or curriculum delivery strategies

The Difference between qualifications and
licensed practitioner status
  • Qualifications are only part of gaining QTLS
  • In addition all teachers must register with the
Institute for Learning (IfL) and comply with the
    Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    requirements.
  • New teachers must complete a process of
    professional formation

What is emphasised?
  • Inclusive practice - initial assessment and
    learner support (personalisation)
  • Planning, assessing and evaluating learning
  • Embedding the minimum core - this requires
trainees to look at both their own and their
learners language, literacy, numeracy and ICT
    skills
  • Developing e-learning and blended learning
    approaches

7
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) The
minimum core
  • Teachers must demonstrate the level of personal
skills in English, Maths and ICT required for
    teaching their area of specialism
  • New teaching staff in the Lifelong Learning
sector need to have skills in English and Maths
    equal to Level 2

8
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)
  • This does not mean that new teachers will be
    teachers of LLN and ICT
  • It does mean that LLN and ICT development is the
responsibility of all teaching staff not just
Skills for Life and Key Skills teachers
