Spell Check and Style Checker
- Spell Check
- Choose Tools, then Spelling, or click the ABC
icon - Spell check works similarly to other Office
programs - Place words you use frequently in the custom
dictionary - Style Checker
- Choose Tools, then Style Checker
- Use this tool to ensure consistency

- The Style Checker can be used to quickly make
your presentation - consistent and to find places where the
text/picture goes off the - viewable area

- Choose View, then Header and Footer
- For footers, select desired components, then
apply to slide or slides - Headers apply only to notes and handout pages
- Format Headers and Footers on the slide master

Inserting Sounds and Movies
- Choose Insert, then Movies and Sounds, and pick

- In Slide Show, click the icon to play -- or use

PowerPoint uses the first - frame as the placeholder

Animations
- For simple animations, select text box that
will be animated
- Choose Slide Show, then select Preset Animation

- Animations can be customized to add various
effects

Animated Transitions
- Choose Slide Show, then select Slide Transition
- 37 different transitions are available select
desired and apply - After applying transitions, watch the show to
see what the - effect is. Simpler may be better!

Timings
- Choose Slide Show, then select Rehearse Timings
- Slide show view appears with Rehearsal dialog
box - Say the presentation out loud as it would be
presented - When finished with the slide, click the right
arrow to go - to the next slide. PowerPoint records the
time used and - inserts it into the presentation
- Click the Pause button to stop the time
recording

Action Settings
- Select the text or object to be linked to an
action - Choose Slide Show, then Action Settings
- Action Settings dialog box appears choose
either the Mouse Click - or the Mouse Over tabs (usually a click)
- Select the desired action (usually a hyperlink)

Slide Shows
- Open the desired presentation navigate to the
beginning slide - Choose Slide Show, then View Show
- Presentation changes to full screen sounds,
animations, and - transitions become active
- It is usually better to begin with a mouse
click rather than with - a timed transition!

Creating Templates
- Create the desired template as a regular
presentation - Choose File, then Save As
- Click on the down arrow in the Save as type
entry box - Click on the Presentation Template (.pot)
- Accept PowerPoints choice of folder (usually
Templates) - Save the template
