5Rhonda said... What an awesome day! Carolyn and
Leslie were so well prepared. The food was great.
I loved working with MS Producer and Photo Story.
Movie Maker is something I will love to learn
more about in the fall. I will be teaching my
little niece how to do MS Producer this summer.
Keep up the great work! Sandy said... I really
appreciate the time you and Leslie spent putting
together Multimedia Mayday. I have so many ideas
after attending. Photostory 3 is something I
really want to try next year. I loved the island
theme! It was so clever how you kept the theme
running to the very end of the day. You both went
beyond expectations with the food and prizes.
Thanks again for such a great workshop! Nicole
said... I am looking forward to using these
tools in my classroom next year!!! THIS WAS
AWESOME! Excellent work, ladies! I can't wait to
share these ideas with my colleagues! Connie
said... This was the best workshop I have ever
attended. Don't worry about the snags in the day
itself. I will use these skills and materials in
my classroom because I am really convinced they
will motivate even the most unwilling students
and give LD students a way to show their full
range of talents and abilities. I also have many
uses for them in my personal life---thank you so
much! Abiodun said... Great resources! The
workshop came just in time--I had been thinking
of ways to get my students interested in
compiling digital portfolios of their artworks.
Plain PowerPoint slides were just not enough.
PhotoStory definitely would feature in our class
webpage. Thanks for the creative presentations.

17What is Multimedia?
- Multimedia Multi (lat. numerous) Media (lat.
plural for medium, which means intermediary) - Multimedia is media that uses multiple forms of
information content and information processing
(e.g. text, audio, graphics, animation, video,
interactivity) to inform or entertain the (user)
audience. Multimedia also refers to the use of
(but not limited to) electronic media to store
and experience multimedia content. - -Wikipedia
18Multimedia can be
- Content progresses without any navigation control
for the viewer
- Content offers interactivity for the user
19Multimedia Projects
- Motivate students to participate
- Integrate all the language arts -- reading,
writing, listening, and speaking across
curricular areas - Build collaboration skills for students
- Create real reasons for reading, writing, and
revising communication - Give students a larger audience than the teacher
and the classroom - Require students to analyze sources and think
about evidence in new ways
20 Multimedia Projects Continued
- Lead teachers to think about their students,
classes, and lessons in new ways. Reflection and
revision of teaching strategies naturally evolve
with the projects - Require higher order thinking and problem-solving
skills. These projects promote non-linear
thinking and give divergent learners a chance to
shine in the classroom.
21Multimedia Projects Continued
- Move teachers from the role of lecturer and
classroom authority and into the role of learning
coach or facilitator. They create
student-centered classrooms. - Increase students' literacy and prepares them for
the technology-based communication skills
required in the workplace today and tomorrow. - Let teachers address multiple intelligences and
learning styles in the classroom. - Naturally employ the range of resources and
approaches by which most students learn best. - - Dr. Suzanne Cherry
