Title: Met on Wednesday evening 28 August'
1Met on Wednesday evening 28 August. 1. The
Organising Committee has agreed to offer itself
as the Physics and Detectors Subcommittee of the
International L.C. Steering Group. Members will
continue to be nominated by the three regional
studies (up to 6 from each region, with 3
co-chairs, at present Baltay, Komamiya, Miller).
Present Asia - Sachio Komamiya, JooSang Kang,
Shan Jin, Takayuki Matsui N. America - Jim Brau,
Paul Grannis, Dean Karlen, Michael Peskin Europe
- Rolf Heuer, Francois Richard, Ron Settles,
Marcello Picollo, David Miller
22. In response to the request from Maury Tigner,
chair of ILCSG, we propose to prepare a
statement of about 10 pages which will
summarise the physics aims of the proposed
International Linear Collider, outline the
kind of detector(s) to be built by international
collaboration, state the desirable properties
of the machine, and the benefits which will
come from the options we have studied (e.g. ??,
GigaZ, polarised e). A drafting group has been
appointed (Paul Grannis, Francois Richard,
Sachio Komamiya, Takayuki Matsui) and will start
work immediately, using existing reports (TESLA
TDR, Snowmass Resource Book, ACFA report etc.) as
sources. The draft will be circulated to all
members of the three regional studies for comment
and approval before final submission to the
ILCSG. We believe that this international
endorsement will have an impact on government
decision makers.
33. Next LCWS will be in Europe Spring
2004. Bids to host it should be sent to me
before the Prague workshop, including description
of the venue, available dates, size and number of
meeting rooms, accommodation, transport, estimated
attendance fee and overall cost to delegates.
The beauty competition will be judged by the
organising committee of the extended ECFA/DESY
Study before the end of 2002.
