Title: Living the Resurrection
1Living the Resurrection

3Acts 1722-32
So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and
said, Men of Athens, I observe that you are
very religious in all respects. For while I was
passing through and examining the objects of
your worship, I also found an altar with this
inscription, TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore what
you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to
you. The God who made the world and all things
in it, since He is the Lord of heaven and earth,
does not dwell in temples made with hands nor
is He served by human hands, as though He
needed anything, since He Himself gives to all
people life and breath and all things and He
made from one man every nation of mankind to live
on all the face of the earth, having determined
their appointed times and boundaries of this
habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps
they might grope for Him and find Him, though He
is not far from each one of us for in Him we
live and move and exist, as even some of your
own poets have said, For we also are His
children.
4Acts 1722-32
Being then the children of God, we ought not to
think that the Divine Nature is like gold or
silver or stone, an image formed by the art and
thought of man Therefore having overlooked the
times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men
that all people everywhere should repent, because
He has fixed a day in which He will judge the
world in righteousness through a Man whom He has
appointed, having furnished proof to all men by
raising Him from the dead. Now when they heard
of the resurrection of the dead, some began to
sneer, but others said, We shall hear you again
concerning this.
5Acts 222-24, 29-32
Men of Israel, listen to these words Jesus the
Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with
miracles and wonders and signs which God
performed through Him in your midst, just as you
yourselves know this Man, delivered over by
the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God,
you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless
men and put Him to death. But God raised Him up
again, putting an end to the agony of death,
since it was impossible for Him to be held in
its power
6Acts 222-24, 29-32
Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding
the patriarch David that he both died and was
buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And
so, because he was a prophet and knew that GOD
HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS
DESCENDANTS ON THE THRONE, he looked ahead and
spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that HE
WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID HIS
FLESH SUFFER DECAY. This Jesus God raised up
again, to which we are all witnesses.
7The Significance of the Resurrection
8If Christ Was Not Raised
Then Our Preaching Is Vain
91 Corinthians 1514
if Christ has not been raised, then our
preaching is vain
10If Christ Was Not Raised
Then Our Faith Is Vain
111 Corinthians 1514
if Christ has not been raised, then our
preaching is vain, your faith is vain
12If Christ Was Not Raised
Then The Apostles Were False Witnesses
131 Corinthians 1515
Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses
of God, because we testified against God that He
raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact
the dead are not raised.
14If Christ Was Not Raised
Then We Are Still In Our Sins
151 Corinthians 1517
and if Christ has not been raised, your faith
is worthless you are still in your sins.
16If Christ Was Not Raised
Then Believers Have Perished At Death
171 Corinthians 1514
Then those also who have fallen asleep in
Christ have perished
18If Christ Was Not Raised
The Christians Are To Be Pitied
191 Corinthians 1514
If we have hoped in Christ in this life only,
we are of all men most to be pitied.
20Because Christ Was Raised
We Are Justified
21Romans 424-25
but for our sake also, to whom it will be
credited, as those who believe in Him who raised
Jesus our Lord from the dead, He who was
delivered over because of our transgressions,
and was raised because of our justification.
22Because Christ Was Raised
There Is Power Available to Christians
231 Corinthians 1514
I pray that they eyes of your heart may be
enlightened so that you will know what is the
hope of His calling, what are the riches of the
glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what
is the surpassing greatness of His power toward
us who believe. There are in accordance with
the working of the strength of His might which
He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him
from the dead and seated Him at His right hand
in the heavenly places.
24Because Christ Was Raised
It Demands Our Complete Loyalty
251 Corinthians 1514
For not one of us lives for himself, and not one
dies for himself for if we live, we live for
the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord
therefore whether we live or die, we are the
Lords. For to this end Christ died and lives
again, that He might be Lord both of the dead
and of the living.
26Living the Resurrection
27Colossians 212-13
having been buried with Him in baptism, in
which you were also raised up with Him through
faith in the working of God, who raised Him from
the dead. When you were dead in your
transgressions and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, He made you alive together with Him,
having forgiven us all our transgressions.
28Becoming a Christian means living a resurrected
life!
