31OUR SALVATION
So you are all children of God through faith in

is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male
or female. For you are all Christians - you are
one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 326-28 (NLT)
32Most people live their entire lives without ever
knowing "WHY?" They exist year after year with no
idea of God's purpose for their lives. The most
basic question a person can ask is, "What is the
meaning of my life?"
33Everyone wants to be happy.
- People try many ways
- Some look for happiness through friendships.
- Some look for happiness through pleasure
experiments. - Some look for happiness through popularity
power.
But real happiness comes from understanding my

me, even when I've ignored you and gone my own
way. I realize I need you in my life and I'm
sorry for my sins. I ask you to forgive me. Thank
you for dying on the cross for me. Please help me
to understand it more. As much as I know how, I
want to follow You from now on. Please come into
my life and make me a new person inside. I accept
Your gift of salvation. Please help me to grow
now as a Christian.
83Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be
saved. Romans 1013

person must make his or her own commitment to
Christ. Its bigger than your parents decision.

117A GREAT QUESTION
118A GREAT QUESTION
What if I was baptized as an infant?
Some churches baptize infants. At Living Faith we
dont. We only baptize those who have made a
decision to believe in Christs death as the
payment for their sin. In the Bible, men and
women baptized following their belief in Jesus.
119IV. WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
What if I was baptized as an infant?
The custom of infant baptism began about 300
years after the Bible was completed. Its a
ceremony intended to emphasize a commitment
between the parents and God on the behalf of the
child. During this ceremony, the parents promise
to raise their child in the faith until the child
is old enough to make his own personal confession
of Christ.
120IV. WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
What if I was baptized as an infant?
At Living Faith, we have a dedication service for
infants and children that emphasize the parents
role in raising a child to follow Christ.
Therefore, if you were baptized as a baby, we
encourage you to be baptized by immersion as a
believer.
121V. WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
122V. WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
BELIEVED
1. As soon as you have ___________!
123Those who believed were baptized . . . that day!
Acts 241
124Then Philip began with the scripture and told him
the Good News about Jesus. As they traveled along
the road, they came to some water, and the man
said, 'Look, here is water! Why shouldn't I be
baptized right now?' Philip said, 'If you believe
with all your heart,
125you may.' The man answered, 'I believe that
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.' So they went
down into the water and Philip baptized him.
Acts 835-38
126V. WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
BELIEVED
1. As soon as you have ___________!
There is no reason to delay. As soon as you have
decided to receive Christ into your life, you can
and should be baptized. If you wait until you are
"perfect" you'll never be ready.
Our next baptism is scheduled on the 1st Sunday
of the month.
127While baptism is a one-time experience, Jesus
gave us another action that is intended to
continue throughout the life of the Christian.
Its called the Lord's Supper, and its a
powerful way for Christians to remember and
celebrate what God did for us in the life of
Jesus.

230III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
231III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
Our planned values help communicate and define
our purpose statement. If you imagine our purpose
statement as the cake, our planned values would
be the icing.
232III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
We feel strongly about these values and want
them to be reflected in our ministry. These
values came from our student and adult leaders.

234III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
Which of these values do you feel most strongly
about?
We want you to help us maintain these values
within our Church and its ministries. We want to
continue to discover ways in which we can
evaluate the effectiveness of these values.
Heres one example of some questions we might ask
235III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
ACCEPTANCE
Do people feel accepted before, during, and after
the meeting?
1. Are all people greeted in the same way without
condition to dress, looks, attendance, etc.?
2. Does the spoken message isolate people of a
particular group, school, race, etc?
236III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
ACCEPTANCE
Do people feel accepted before, during, and after
the meeting?
3. Do people leave the meeting with the
impression their presence was appreciated by
someone?
4. Is there an expressed attitude from the
leadership that shows concern over a student's
personal life?
237III. OUR PLANNED VALUES
ACCEPTANCE
Do people feel accepted before, during, and after
the meeting?
5. Do members go out of their way to meet people,
learn their names and ask about their personal
lives?
238IV. OUR PROCESS
239IV. OUR PROCESS
The process we use gives us a big picture of our
Our Ministry. The baseball diamond allows a way
in which we can attempt to measure growth and
maturity. people can see where they fit into our
programs, whats ahead of them, and what they can
do to help others along the process.
240IV. OUR PROCESS
We want you to understand that this process is
not the only way to measure growth and maturity.
Its also a process thats not without error. For
example, if someone completes all the programs
and classes we have set up along the base paths
but never displays a faith and/or intimacy with
Christ, the process is meaningless.
241IV. OUR PROCESS
We want this process to encourage growth by
challenging people to take the next step.
242V. OUR PROGRAMS
243V. OUR PROGRAMS
When most people think of our Ministry they think
of our programs. But as you have seen, our
programs only exist to support our purpose, to
help reach our audiences, and to reflect our
values.

250APPENDIX A
251WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MEMBER
The difference between "attenders" and "members"
can be summed up in one word _____________
COMMITMENT
At Living Faith we recognize the need for a
formal membership. We ask you to commit to
membership for 4 reasons
A BIBLICAL REASON
1. _____________________ Christ is committed to
the church.
252 . . . Christ loved the church, and He gave His
life for it. Ephesians 525
253WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MEMBER
2. _____________________ It is a unique
commitment in our society.
A CULTURAL REASON
We live in an age where very few want to be
committed to anything... school ... a
relationship...our country. This attitude has
even produced a generation of "church shoppers
hoppers. Membership swims against the current of
America's "consumer religion that switches
groups for any reason. Membership is an unselfish
decision. Commitment always builds character.
254WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MEMBER
2. _____________________ It is a unique
commitment in our society.
A CULTURAL REASON
3. _____________________ It defines who can be
counted on.
A PRACTICAL REASON
Every team must have a roster. Every school must
have an enrollment. Every army has an enlistment.
Membership identifies our family of believers who
can be counted on in our attempt to fulfill our
purpose.
255WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MEMBER
4. ____________________ It encourages spiritual
growth.
A PERSONAL REASON
The New Testament places a major emphasis on the
need for Christians to be accountable to each
other for spiritual growth. Its tough to be
accountable when you're not committed to any
specific church family.
256WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A MEMBER
At Living Faith we never ask our members to do
more than the Bible clearly teaches. We only
encourage our members to do what the Bible
expects every Christian to do. These
responsibilities are spelled out in the
Membership Covenant.
257THE Living Faith MEMBERSHIP COVENANT
Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and
been baptized, and being in agreement with Living
Faith's statements, strategy, and structure, I
now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the
Living Faith Christian Center Family. In doing
so, I commit myself to God and to the other
members to do the following.
258WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A MEMBER
1. I will protect the unity of my church
- By acting in love toward other members
- By refusing to gossip
- By following the leaders
- By reconciling conflict
259So let us concentrate on the things which make
for harmony, and on the growth of our fellowship
together. Romans 1519 (PH)
260Live in complete harmony with each other-each
with the attitude of Christ toward each
other. Romans 155 (LB)
261Have a sincere love for your fellow believers,
love one another earnestly with all your hearts.
1 Peter 122 (GN)
262Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your
mouths, but only what is helpful for building
others up according to their needs Ephesians
429
263Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.
They keep watch over you as men who must give an
account. Obey them so that their work will be a
joy, not a burden, for that would be no advantage
to you. Hebrews 1317
264WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A MEMBER
1. I will protect the unity of my church
2. I will share the responsibility of my church
- By praying for its growth
- By inviting the unchurched to attend
- By warmly welcoming those who are alone and/or
visiting
265To the church...we always thank God for you and
pray for you constantly. 1 Thessalonians 12
266Go out into the country . . . and urge anyone you
find to come in, so that My House will be
full. Luke 1423 (LB)
267So, warmly welcome each other into the church,
just as He has warmly welcomed you then God will
be glorified. Romans 157 (LB)
268WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A MEMBER
3. I will serve the ministry of my church
- By discovering my gifts and talents
- By being equipped to serve
- By developing a servant's heart
269Serve one another with the particular gifts God
has given each of you . . . 1 Peter 410 (PH)
270God gave . . . some to be pastors and teachers to
prepare God's people for works of ministry, so
that the Body of Christ may be built up . .
. Ephesians 411-12
271Each of you should look not only to your own
interests, but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus
Christ . . . who took on the very nature of a
servant . . . Philippians 23-4,7
272WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A MEMBER
3. I will serve the ministry of my church
4. I will support the life of my church
- By attending faithfully
- By living a godly life
- By financial giving
273Let us not give up the habit of meeting together
. . . but let us encourage one another. Hebrews
1025
274But whatever happens, make sure that your
everyday life is worthy of the gospel of
Christ. Philippians 127 (PH)
275OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
276WHAT WE BELIEVE
In essential beliefswe have unity.
277There is one body and one Spirit . . . there is
one Lord, one faith one baptism, and one God and
Father of us all . . . Ephesians 44-6
278WHAT WE BELIEVE
In essential beliefswe have unity.
In non-essential beliefs-we have liberty.
279Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing
judgment on disputable matters...Who are you to
judge someone else's servant? To his own master
he stands or falls...So then each of us will give
an account of himself to God...So whatever you
believe about things keep between yourself and
God. Romans 141, 4, 12, 22
280WHAT WE BELIEVE
In essential beliefswe have unity.
In non-essential beliefs-we have liberty.
In all our beliefs-we show love.
281 . . . If I hold in my mind not only all human
knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and
if I have the faith that can move mountains-but
have no love, I amount to nothing at all. 1
Corinthians 132 (PH)
282THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
283THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
1. About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He
has eternally existed in three persons the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three
are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 11,26-27,322 Psalm 902 Matthew

284THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
2. About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal
with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life
and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for
the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He
arose from the dead after three days to
demonstrate His power over sin and death. He
ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again
someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and
Lord of Lords.

285THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE
3. About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and
the Son of God. He is present in the world to
make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He
also lives in every Christian from the moment of
salvation. He provides the Christian with power
for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and
guidance in doing what is right. He gives every
believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As
Christians we seek to live under his control
daily.
