A Brief Biography
  • Born in Neuchatel, Switzerland on August 9, 1896.
  • Oldest child of 3.
  • Interested in mollusks during adolescent years.
  • Died in Genova on September 16, 1980.

Schools and awards
  • Studied natural science at the Univ. of
    Neuchatel, where he received Ph. D.
  • Married Valentine Chatenay in 1923 and had 3
    children.
  • Taught Sociology, Experimental Psychology,
    Genetic Psychology, and International Center for
    Genetic Epistemology at the Univ. of Geneva from
    1929 to 1954.
  • Honorary Doctorates from 31 different
    universities.
  • Erasmus Prize (1972) and 11 other international
    prizes.
