Attendance

• Regular and prompt attendance
• is vital to your childs success in school.
• Students will be given one day to make up work
  for every day missed due to excused absences.
• Please send a note explaining any absences. If
  no note is received, it will be recorded as an

Wetmore Cafeteria Expectations

• Be respectful
• Silent when standing
• Hands and feet to yourself
• Get all supplies and food before you sit down.
• Clean up after yourself.

Lunch

• 5th Grade lunch begins at 1130. See your
  childs teacher for exact times.
• You are more than welcome to join your child for
  lunch. Please let your child know if you are
  coming, so their teacher can order you an adult
  lunch that day.

Student Success Initiative (SSI)

• State Mandated
• Students must pass BOTH the Reading and Math TAKS
  tests in 5th grades to be promoted to next grade
• Check the district calendar for TAKS dates
• Students must have a 70 average in Math, Language
  Arts/ Reading block, and overall average of 70 in
  order to be promoted. Students not meeting these
  standards will be retained.
• Students are also tested in Science.

Dress Code Expectations

• No flip flops due to safety concerns/issues
• Athletic type shoes on P.E. days
• No halter tops, exposed midriffs, strapless
  and/or low cut tops, exposed backs, spaghetti
  straps, see-through clothing, tank shirts, very
  short shorts, sleeveless athletic shirts

Class Work

• Some class work will be completed in class,
  evaluated, and graded.
• Agendas are reviewed and updated daily
• Please check your childs agenda for daily
  assignments and homework
• Binders graded work is behind each subject
  section for the nine weeks

Homework

• The purpose of homework is to reinforce skills
  taught in class and to promote responsibility.
• Homework is not always paper
• If class work is not finished it may be finished
  for homework and noted in agenda
• Agenda, Reading Log - 150 minutes a week, and
  Contract for Success is to be signed each Friday
  and returned on Monday.

Textbooks

• Your child is assigned and responsible for a set
  of textbooks.
• All hardback books are to be covered at all
  times.
• Any books lost or destroyed will be assessed a
  fee at the end of the year.

Internet Access and Technology

• Teachers utilize resources on the internet
• to provide enrichment for specific lessons.
• In order for your child to access the internet
  and participate in internet content lessons, they
  must have permission first.
• Teachers only have students access web sites
  which they have previewed and screened. NEISD
  utilizes software which restricts sites with
  questionable material. All children in the
  computer lab are supervised carefully.

Volunteers

• Everyone is welcome to Wetmore Elementary!
• Please make sure that you have filled out a
  clearance form provided by DPS if you want to
  participate in any classroom or extracurricular
  activities.
• You may get a form from the district website or
  from the front office.

Dismissal Procedures

• 225 Bus, Day Care, KINS dismissed
• 235 Parent Pickup, Walkers, Bike
  Riders dismissed
• Students will not be released before 225
• Parents may not pick up bus students from the gym
  without first signing them out in the office.
  Teachers cannot release students without written
  notice from office.
• For your safety, please use crosswalks and allow
  buses right of way
• Must send notes to indicate changes in going
  home. Please avoid calling the office if at all
  possible. Thanks!!
• Parents must get permission from Transportation
  if your child is riding a bus other than one
  assigned.
