7 FIFTH GRADE EXPECTATIONS FOR GOOD BEHAVIOR
AND RESPONSIBILITY
1. Students will be prepared and organized for
class. 2. Homework assignments will be
completed. 3. Students will stay on task. 4.
Follow teachers directions at all times. 5.
Control talking. 6. Use good manners/respect 7.
Keep hands and feet to self. (No horse
playing) 8. Follow before and after school
procedures.
8Fraction Action Plan
All students start out with a whole pie on
display in the classroom.
For each infraction, students will shade in a
fourth of the pie, receive a notice to be signed
and serve detention.
Their goal is to have at least ¼ of their pie
left to join in on our FUN-FILLED FRACTION
ACTION parties throughout the year.

9Good Behavior Celebrations!
- Throughout the year we will have celebrations to
reward students still having at least one-fourth,
25 or one piece of pie. This means they have
received 3 or less infractions.
10Excess Infractions (5 or more)
- Students repeatedly breaking rules will receive a
letter requesting a parent conference and/or
office referral. - Code of Conduct (Columbia County system-wide
rules) violations will also be handled by
disciplinary referral to office.
11RECESS
- Privilege earned as a result of
- following rules/ expectations
- 20 minutes /daily
- All 5th Grade classes enjoy together
- Detention takes place during this time for
students who have received an infraction. - PTO has provided recreational equipmentdonations
are welcomed
12CRCT
- All 5th grade students must meet the Georgia CRCT
promotion requirements in both reading and
mathematics receiving a minimum score of 800.
However, we hope to see many students exceed with
a score above 850!
13Language Arts Instruction
- SRA Imagine It! Series
- All units in SRA Imagine It! Are organized around
a central theme, such as Heritage or Call of
Duty . - Inquiry and collaborative lessons encourage
interaction and sharing as well as individual
skills growth. - Language Arts instruction for 120 minutes per day
will involve guided reading lessons, fluency
building activities, comprehension strategy
lessons, as well as language (grammar)
instruction and spelling in the Workshop portion. - Writing instruction will be incorporated into the
language/workshop class time and will continue to
follow the Six Traits Instructional Program.
145th Grade Georgia Writing Assessment
All 5th grade students will be tested on one of
three randomly assigned prompts from either the
informational, narrative or persuasive genres.
Please visit teachers websites to find
additional information including how papers are
scored, 6 traits of writing, and sample papers
from previous years with annotations.
15Reading Logs/Genre Club
- According to the Georgia Performance Standards,
students are required to read a million words
throughout the year. - -Students are required to read 4 nights per week
- -20 minutes each session-
- Students will be responsible for recording their
nightly readings in the reading logs - Encourages and establishes reading as a habit
- Improves school performance and standardized test
scores - Will count as test grade in reading
- Builds READING FLUENCY
- Everyone is working to earn 8 patches for Genre

- Please help your child learn by ensuring his/her
best possible attendance record. ? - If a student is out, they will need to bring a
note upon returning to school. - Students may have up to 5 absences per semester
without needing a doctors note. Upon the 6th
absence, a doctors note is required.
27PTO Membership
- One of the best ways you can show your support is
by joining our PTO. - Membership is only 15 per family, and your money
goes a long way in our schooland you get a FREE
meal Sept. 24th!!! - PTO is looking for volunteers to help with
carnival, fundraisers, Santas gift shop, and the
hospitality committee. - If you are interested, please fill out the form
near the sign in sheet and return to your childs
homeroom teacher.
