Graduation Options
  • A four-year, minimum of 24-credits standard
    program, or
  • A three-year, 18 credit standard college
    preparatory program, or
  • A three-year, 18 credit career preparatory
    program
  • Standard 24 Credit Graduation Requirements
  • English 4 credits
  • Math 4 credits (to include Algebra I or its
    equivalent)
  • Science 3 credits
  • Social Studies 3 credits ( World History,
    American History, Economics and American
    Government)
  • 1 credit HOPE (physical education and health)
  • 1 credit of Fine Art or DOE approved Practical
    Art
  • Electives 8 credits for a total of 24 credits
  • Earn a 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA
  • Pass Grade 10 FCAT Reading and Math

  • Four-year, 24credit Standard Program

  • Core Classes MAI Other Electives Total
  • Why? Students can
  • pursue in-depth study in an area of their choice
  • learn more about future professions or lifetime
    skills
  • explore individual interests in regards to a
    career
  • What is a major area of interest (MAI)?
  • Four credits selected by the student in an area
    of interest.
  • For example, courses may be in
  • a career and technical program
  • fine and performing arts
  • an academic content area
  • Students may revise MAI annually as part of the
    course registration process.

Bright Futures Scholarships
  • Academic Scholars Award - Pays 100 of tuition at
    a Florida public institution.
  • Requirements 3.5 weighted gpa (16 required
    academic credits)
  • 1270 SAT or 28 ACT
  • 75 hours of community service non-profit, not
    compensated and not for a family member. (Forms
    are available on the website and in the guidance
    office.)
  • Florida Medallion Scholars Award - Pays 75 of
    tuition at a Florida public institution.
  • Requirements 3.0 weighted gpa (16 required
    academic credits)
  • 970 SAT or 20 ACT
  • 16 required academic credits include
  • 4 English
  • 4 Math (Algebra I and above)
  • 3 Science
  • 3 Social Science
  • 2 Foreign Language (in the same language)

    semester for honors and AP courses with a C or
    higher. Advanced foreign language is not honors
    for BF.

  • May Course verification forms mailed home.
  • August Freshman Orientation at Chiles HS on
    the Friday prior to start of school (August 21st)
