- Esperanzas papa died.

- They had to leave Abuelita at Mexico.
- Esperanza went to camp.
- Miguel went to go get Abuelita at Mexico.
5SETTING
The setting is when Espreanza is living at Mexico
with mama, papa, Miguel, and Abuleta. Esperanza
moved to California. Esperanza went to camp and
made friends. Miguel went back to Mexico to get
Abuleta. When mama got sick she went to the
hospital.
6THE THREE CHARACTERS
Esperanza she is nice smart and pretty. She
relates to the story because she is the main
character. Isabel she is nice, pretty and brave.

with Esperanza. Mama she is beautiful, and nice.

7 THE 5 WORDS
Dangling from a tree branch were the remnants of
the little donkey piñata that she had giving the
children, its tissue streamers fluttering in the
breeze. I think the fluttering means flapping.
Fluttering-To wave or flap rapidly in an
irregular . Immigration has been hear. I think
the immigration means some body comes from
another place. Immigration-A family or somebody
comes from another country. I hate asparagus. I
think the asparagus means a type of vegetable.
Asparagus-The shoots, eaten as a
vegetable. Hortensia and Josefina scrubbed the
little cabin until it was almost antiseptic. I
think antisepitc means to clean.
Antiseptic-Exceptionally clean or neat. Then
after lunch, they sorted the Flaming Gold
nectarines. I think nectarines means smooth.
Nectarines-A variety of aromatic peach of ancient
origin. Having smooth, waxy skin.
8THE DUST BOWL
- A dust bowl is yellowish-brown haze
- It hit the Midwestern and southern plains.
- When the crops are gone the dust storm begins.
- The Dust Bowl is the worst ever in U.S. history.
- The Dust Bowl cause extensive damage.
